Psychiatric Medication Management in Las Vegas
Finding the right medication can change everything. At MindWell Psychiatric Services, we don’t just write prescriptions; we partner with you to find what actually works, monitor your progress, and make adjustments until you feel like yourself again.
Whether you’re starting medication for the first time or frustrated with medications that haven’t helped, we’re here to guide you through the process.
What Is Medication Management?
Medication management is the ongoing process of prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychiatric medications to treat mental health conditions. It’s not a one-time appointment; it’s a partnership between you and your provider to find the right medication at the right dose.
Medication management includes:
- Initial evaluation to determine if medication is right for you
- Careful selection of medications based on your symptoms, history, and preferences
- Regular follow-up appointments to monitor how you’re responding
- Dosage adjustments as needed
- Managing side effects
- Coordinating with therapists or other providers when needed
At MindWell, Michael Kuron, MSN, APRN, PMHNP handles all medication management personally. You’ll see the same provider every visit, not a rotating door of staff.
How Medication Management Works at MindWell
Step 1: Psychiatric Evaluation
Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation. We’ll discuss your symptoms, medical history, past medications (what worked, what didn’t), and your goals. This helps us understand the full picture before recommending any medication.
Step 2: Personalized Treatment Plan
If medication is appropriate, we’ll discuss your options together. We explain how each medication works, potential side effects, and what to expect. You’ll never be pressured into taking something you’re not comfortable with.
Step 3: Starting Medication
Once you start a medication, we typically schedule a follow-up within 2-4 weeks. This lets us catch any issues early and make adjustments before problems become frustrating.
Step 4: Ongoing Monitoring
Mental health medication isn’t “set it and forget it.” We schedule regular check-ins to monitor your progress, adjust dosages, and address any concerns. As you stabilize, appointments become less frequent.
Step 5: Adjustments When Needed
If a medication isn’t working or side effects are too much, we’ll work together to find a better option. For patients who’ve tried multiple medications without success, we offer genetic testing to help identify what’s most likely to work.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often will I need medication management appointments?
When starting a new medication, we typically see you every 2-4 weeks. Once you’re stable, appointments may be monthly or quarterly depending on your needs.
Can you prescribe controlled substances like Adderall or Xanax?
Yes, when clinically appropriate. We conduct thorough evaluations and follow all prescribing guidelines. Controlled substances require regular in-person or video follow-ups.
What if my current medication isn't working?
That’s exactly what medication management is for. We’ll review what’s happening, discuss options, and make a plan, whether that’s adjusting the dose, switching medications, or adding something new.
Do I need to see a therapist too?
Medication and therapy work well together, but it depends on your situation. Understanding the difference between a psychiatrist, psychologist, and therapist can help you decide what type of care you need. Some patients do well with medication alone; others benefit from both. We can discuss what makes sense for you.
Can I do medication management via telehealth?
Your first appointment must be in-person. After that, follow-up medication management appointments can be done via secure video call.
How long does it take for psychiatric medication to work?
It varies by medication. Some anti-anxiety medications work quickly; most antidepressants take 4-6 weeks to show full effects. We’ll set realistic expectations based on what we prescribe.
